On May 18th and 19th, Just Add Creative participated in the Cultural Council's Open Studios event, where art patrons got a behind-the-scenes look at the creative process in The Palm Beaches. This event provided a fantastic platform for introducing our nonprofit's mission and activities to the community.
A highlight of the weekend was the collaborative collage piece at Ms. Shaw's studio. Visitors were invited to select collage pieces to create their own unique artworks to take home. As these pieces are removed, an underlying oil painting is gradually revealed. The collage activity is reminiscent of Just Add Creative’s mission of giving away art supplies for free, fostering creativity and community engagement. We look forward to sharing a photo of the complete hidden painting once it is fully uncovered.
One of the most exciting outcomes of the event was connecting with Christine, our first volunteer. Christine's enthusiasm for our mission was evident as she helped us make 20 collage kits to give away, marking the beginning of what we hope will be many more volunteer-driven projects. Her support is a testament to the community's commitment to fostering creativity and engagement.
We are also thrilled to announce that one of Ms. Shaw's new patrons, Donna, purchased a dog painting. The proceeds from this sale will go toward new art supplies for Just Add Creative.
In addition to the art exhibits, we distributed informative pamphlets about Just Add Creative and invited attendees to sign our guest book. We are thrilled with the positive response and the new connections made during the event.
Thank you to everyone who visited and supported Just Add Creative. We are excited for the journey ahead and look forward to continuing to foster creativity and community engagement through our nonprofit initiatives.
Amy Shaw is the President of Just Add Creative.
